Good-Bye Summer...

Summer and I have a love-hate relationship. I do like most things about summer, but I hate 90+ degree weather. It seemed like it stayed over 90 degrees starting in May and has just now ended. Oh, and yeah, summer killed our lawn (ugh).

We did have some great times this year though...

We played tennis
Matt teaching Sadie the rules

Sadie turned 2 and graduated to a big girl bed
She loves it!

CMA fest was fun. We'd never been and it was a great way to experience country music.

Went on vacation to NC. A new location for us, but it was so relaxing and amazing.

A great, quiet beach.

Sadie swimming in the ocean.

The family ping-pong tournament.

Sadie learned to play some B-Ball with her Bop.

Nothing too exciting in August, just some household stuff and relaxing. We did finally sell our desk and light fixtures on Craigslist. The garage is so much more spacious now!

Sadie went to her first birthday party!

Then it was Labor Day and the summer was pretty much over. Matt's parents were here for a visit and we made the most of the great weather and said good-bye to summer...

We hope you all had as nice a summer as we did.

A Little Redecorating - Part II

After doing the dining room we were a little more motivated to try and wrap up the living room.

When Matt's parents were here for Labor Day weekend we did a little furniture shopping and we chose an accent arm chair that we've been wanting to add to the living room for a while now.

Here's what the living room looked like when we moved in...
And in the process of redecorating... Stage 2 - some new decor, new rug, new curtains, new light fixture

Finally... Stage 3 - the new chair has arrived. The only thing is that we cannot decide which placement we like best :)

A Little Redecorating - Part I

It's been a little over a year now that we've been in the new house and we are slowly trying to make it our own. We still haven't been able to tackle the big projects like the kitchen and bathrooms, but in the mean time we've been updating the rest of house and putting our stamp of approval on it.

Here's what the dining room looked like when we moved in...
And here is what we've been doing... This was Stage 1 - Painting

And finally... Stage 2 - Light Fixture update and some new decor, but we actually aren't done yet. We have a next step that we just haven't gotten around to yet. Hopefully we will tackle that soon.

Labor Day Weekend - Watson Family Fun

It's been a while since we've updated the blog, but we've been busy bees here at Casa Watson lately. August was prep month for Labor Day weekend with Matt's parents, Patti & Steve, who were coming for a long visit over the holiday weekend. The stuff we actually accomplished will be a different post so stay tuned.

They got to town on Friday evening and we relaxed for the evening with steaks on the grill, good wine and fun games and cards. Oh, and by the way, I have to divert into what I'm loving right now...

Anyone who really knows me, knows that I'm not a red wine drinker. However, I am starting to make the transition from white to red. I've been actively using the sommelier from my fav wine shop to help me find my way though. For the weekend he made some great choices for me. Here is what I'm LOVING...

The Meyer Family Cellar is noted for producing some of the best domestic wines. Most notable their Silver Oak brand which ranges about $150 a bottle. I'm not spending more than $25 on a bottle of wine that's going to be drank immediately so this Syrah is perfect. This was perfect with our steaks. Not sweet at all and a great wine for someone like myself who is still learning and trying. I highly recommend it.

Last, but certainly not least is this great Medoc that I fell in LOVE with. In my book the perfect red. Medium bodied, just the slightest bit of sweetness and had a nice smokey after-bite that wasn't too overwhelming. I WILL be buying more of this to have in the house. More than worth the $16.95 sale price!

Okay, so back to the visit! We had lots of fun. Friday evening was grilling at home with some games. Saturday we went to the Nashville Farmer's market that had just recently reopened from the flood. We went downtown to the riverfront and had a nice lunch at Big River Brewery. Afterwards we went on a 5 store raid of western stores on honky tonk row to find Patti a pair of grey mules that she's been wanting. We were not successful, but at least we found Steve his next Christmas present!

We were still tired from a long night on Friday that we decided to order in pizza and play some more games and cards.

Sunday morning we went and had a great brunch at the Copper Kettle downtown. YUMMY!! And the best hidden view of the Nashville skyline.

Then it was off to do a little bit of shopping. Matt and I have been wanting an arm chair for the living room since we moved into the new house. This weekend we finally found one that we liked and was in the right color - YAY! And on the 17th it will be at it's new home on Chapelwood Drive.

Then it was off to a nice dinner at PF Chang's Sunday evening and more games and cards at night. We liked to play games if you haven't already caught on!

Monday was just a day of whatever. The Coach outlet, Home Goods, lunch at Corie's Dog House (really good hot dogs) and miniature golf. It was a very hard course we all thought, but we all got a hole in 1 except Matt.

My hole in one #1!!

Pretty course

My hole in one #2!!!

Steve's hole in one!

Patti got a hole in one on #18!!

After miniature golf we just relaxed at the house, grilled some burgers and had a nice end to a great weekend. We hope everyone had as much fun as we did. Now it's back to daily grind...
