Oak Island Vacation

Right off the bat I'm going to say this is going to be a long post. We spent a week in Oak Island, NC relaxing, soaking up the sun and generally just being lazy. It was GLORIOUS!! I don't know that I could have asked for a better vacation. It was exactly what the doctor ordered.
To start, Matt and I had a pretty long driving day on Saturday. We drove from Nashville to Columbia first. Matt and Sadie had a visit with my sister Bethany while I went and visited one of the local Kirkland's stores. We had a long day in the car, but found small ways of entertaining ourselves.
Hour 1 - Early, but in good spirits. After all, we are headed to the beach!

Hour 4 - Sitting in an hour of traffic in Asheville. Not so fun.

Sadie expressing her inner diva. Nobody puts Sadie in traffic!!

Coming through Columbia. This baby was happy to get out of the car.

Hour 10 - almost there!!!

After a long day we had finally arrived. After unpacking and settling in, we all went to bed for a good night's sleep. The next morning we immediately went on the beach to check out the week's scenery.

Our GORGEOUS view!

Next, we had to chronical Sadie's first experience with the ocean. Yes, we do know that she is a dog, but we still treat her like our child!

Seeing what it's all about.

Testing the water.

Going in for the full dip!!

Then, just beachin' it!!

Then came 4th July and the fireworks on the beach.

There was a lot of coming and going and through it all one little girl got very tired.

We also played the obligatory miniature golf. The ladies played only one game, but the guys played a tournament of best of 3 (of course!!). And won the game so he got to have picture taken.

Then it was off to Wilmington to taken in the waterfront, walk around and have some dinner.

And I have to include some of the nice family pictures we took before we left. I think we may have found Christmas card photo somewhere in here too!

And lastly, before this post if finally wrapped up, we have to note that Sadie batted her eyes at her Bop-Bop and he caved and bought her a beach house. She is so spoiled!!

So, that's the breakdown of the vacation. I hope this wasn't too painful or too reminiscent of a bad slide show of your crazy aunt's vacation to Hawaii!!
